disappearing hard drive

I bought a web book direct from elonex. Three weeks later the hard drive disappeared, not reported in bios. I assumed a hard drive failure, called elonex and (to their great credit) with no messing they swapped a new hard drive. Initially all was well and I felt smug about diagnosing the fault, but now the same fault has returned. It is NOT due to overheating, since the HD is not visible even when cold.
I'll call elonex again, ultimately its their problem, not mine. But I would be grateful for any ideas.
