Disappearing 'D' drive from 'My Computer'

Having XP Home, my 'D' drive icon doesn't appear in My Computer and I cannot find a way to get it to work. Device Manager says its working ok. Any ideas?

The most likely reason, as always with this query (it's asked several times a week) is that one of the leads or power supply is not inserted correctly or loose.

I have the same problem, I have worked out mine is due to faulty ribbon cable, go to my computer, right click, select, manage, select disc disc management and enable drive, but if a ribbon problem drive will keep dissapearing until ribbon replaced
