Run Firefox, then click on Tools, Options, Advanced and then make sure the box is ticked that states " Always ensure Firefox is the default browser..." No need to do anything to IE at all.

You don't need to disable IE, just don't use it if you want to use Firefox.

You can have as many different browser programs on your pc as you want.
You just open and use the one you choose to.

I have both IE7 and Firefox 3 and I use both, sometimes both are open at the same time :) no problem.

I still think it best to set the one you want to "default"

I agree, I have Firefox set as 'default'

Click on Set Program Access And Default ” - Custom and remove the tick next to IE “Enable

Access To This Program” and any other programs that you do not want to use

You can also Download IE Tab 1.5.20081203, extension that will open IE in a Firefox Tabs if a

site require IE to be used

Yes IE Tab is very useful at times for those odd few sites that still insist on only working with IE.
