DirectX 8.1b over 9.0b

Hi guys and girls. Just a quick question.
My graphics card (GeForce2 MX400) doesn't support DirectX 9.0 (it's too old!). Can I download and install 8.1b over the top of it (currently got 9.0b installed), and is it worth doing? i.e. would I see any benefit in games?

Not worth doing becuase DirectX 9.0 is backwards compatible. It does everything DirectX 8.1 plus more and improved tweaks.

DX 9 is backwards compatable so it shouldnt matter what version u have installed.and the difference will not be that much if the games work now they will work the same with dx8.

I have a Creative GeForce2 MX400 card which was first used with Direct8.1, 9.0 and then 9.0b(Windows98SE).

Now I have XP Pro and all works still exactly as it should in combination with the latest (but one) nVidia drivers.
