Direct X for win98se ???

hi, just seen another post about directX, so i looked to see what version i had, and it said

version 4.07, would i gain anything from putting version 8and a bit in, i dont play any games on here, which is what i believe directx is for, or would it be best left alone

If you don't pay games (or music), you may as well leave it as it is.

If you go to Start > Run, and type

dxdiag

you will get all sorts of information about your version of DirectX. In particular, the last line on the first page lists your version of DirectX, which I suspect is DirectX 7. To my knowledge, there never was a DirectX 4.07, although there are several components of DirectX with that version number, and it may well appear in the bottom left corner of the first page referred to above.

You have the answer.

Your version is OK for you as you are.......... If you subsequently load a game that needs an update it will usually be part of the installation.
