Direct cable connex between W98/PC & XP/laptop

  Nutritech 00:47 14 Sep 03

Can I connect my PC running on Windows 98 with my Laptop running XP using a parallel port bi-directional cable? I can set up host or guest on Laptop but when I run transferred XP connection wizard software on PC it does not detect cable or other connection device and refuses to run.
What do I do to transfer files between the two?

I don't think you can I am fairly sure you need to set up a network between both PC's using a RJ45 Xover cable. You will also need 10/100 ethernet cards in each.

Thanks Wiznyme, but this only works with W2000 on the other PC not with w98. I've already tried the 'official' Microsoft help instructions.
