DIMM memory increase

  Muergo 22:13 12 Aug 09

I have two memory cards installed, the original 250Mb and added 500Mb. to increase to 1Gb should I replace 250 with a 500 or take both out and put one 1Gb bank in leaving slot two empty.
Or doesn't it matter?

upgrade the computer to 2Gb at some time, use a 1Gb stick.

If you think you will be happy with it running at 1Gb in total, just get another 512Mb stick.

If your OP sytem is 32bit the optimum mem configuration is 2Gig. A 32bit system will not recognize much more than a bout 3Gig.

You can buy a 2Gig pack which consists of 2X 1Gig strips of memory for about £20.00 these days.

I did this recently and made a big difference.

Consult youre Motherboard manual for which memory type you meed eg., DDR DDR2 DDR3

If your OP system is 64bit you will be able to access much more memory.
