Digital projector and laptop

Hi!
Recently bought an Acer digital projector. I want to use it in conjunction with the laptop to present slideshows. I have tried to use the projector remote
to advance pictures in the slideshow I created on the laptop, but nothing happens which means I have to use the laptop to advance the pictures. How do I sort this out? The on line manual for the Acer is no help.
Any advice appreciated.

Laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium.

I don't know but my guess is that you can only advance the pictures if you're using a USB drive connected directly to the projector.

Which Acer projector?
The projectors that I have used do not have remote that interfaces with a laptop but are used to set up the projector (keystone correction, etc). However it may be possible but I think that you probably want something like this click here

The projector is an Acer X1230K and doesn't have a usb port. The Kensington wireless remote may be the answer as presumably this connects with the laptop to advance the slides. Thanks for your suggestions.

There are other wireless remotes and they connect to laptop not the projector.

Fairly sure that you will need a wireless remote.

I use a wireless mouse to advance the slides.
