Digital photographs

My photographs come out at a size of 3.5 MB.
Is there a way of reducing the size without losing definition and thus saving disc space.
If this is possible would it be possible to reduce the size of all the photographs in one folder in one operation?

Was it saved as .JPG.

jpg is about the smallest capacity compression you can get, without it getting too lossy.

You can reduce the size by doing a small crop around the outside of the image. You will be suprised how much the file size goes down. Take a copy of one and crop carefully then compare the difference.

It is amazing how much sky and foreground that can be removed without losing the image quality.

If your pics are saved as tiff or raw they will be big files, try converting to jpeg

Within the camera you can reduce the quality setting slightly but if you do this and take a good shot you may feel a bit cheated. It is all a compromise File size/Quality. You cannot have both.

How did you solve your file size issue please?
