when my norton 2002 expired I updated via the web.
Recently I received a strange email which prompted me to use the norton site to check my system. Norton have said that my anitvirus software is not up to date and I should use 2003. The software I use currently says that I am covered up to 2004.
Should I update to norton 2003 or stay as I am?
any help will be appreciated, thanks

2002 is ok if you update every week updates are availble every wed .2002 wont run on xp thats why alot of ppl are updating to 2003.
if you use live update once a week and keep up to date you will be ok

Norton AV 2002 is compatible with XP (but it's already working on whatever OS you're using anyway).

The only feature I remember reading about which is new in the 2003 version is scanning for viruses for instant message attachments.

It also scans for viruses in outgoing email (but I think that started with 2002, not sure, but certainly not in 2001 which I use).

If you don't use instant messaging or things like peer to peer file transfers, there's no need for 2003.

There is not enough in NAV 2003 to make it worthwhile to upgrade from NAV 2002 - see click here

Make sure that you keep your AV definitions updated at least weekly using LiveUpdate, and stick with NAV 2002.

NortonAV 2002 should be updated on a daily basis - Symantec has updates almost every day - better safe than sorry.

I have 2002 on win XP system, and it works flawlessly, it sounds like a clever marketing ploy, did they by any chance offer money off an upgrade version?

2002 software were the first Norton products to be compatible with XP.

Providing you pay for the update subscription for the following 12 months after your 2002 version's has run out, Symantec will provide updates - no need to get the very latest unless you need the additional benefits or features.
