Hi,

I'm a web designer and programmer and need some help in customising my dial- up settings (this computer doesn't have broadband).

Anyhow, after going on modem properties, I click on the connection tab and then on advanced.

In the extra settings box I want to set two commands, the first is m0 (to silence the mdoem), and the other is s11=40 (to speed it up).

However, I can only put in one setting at a time. How do i configure it so that I can sue both of these settings?

Hope my post makes sense,

m0 s11=40 Just a space between the two commands.

Juust a point, but you can't speed up a modem by changing any settings. The modem will negotiate the fastest connection speed it can when it dials up - and that's it.

If I remember correctly the S11=40 line just speeds up the time it takes to dial your ISP number.

Try this go to Explorer\Windows\inf\other and you can double click the inf to open in notepad look for one that is for your modem if you find one there may be an init string in the similar to this AT+MS=12,1,28000,56000 it is mine and I then put S11=40 W2 after it so it dials faster and gives the correct connection speed So the compleat init in extra settings is like this in mine

AT+MS=12,1,28000,56000 S11=40 W2 you can try it to see if it work's in yours

Yes - right after I posted I thought that too - but still, it made the point clear.

Hi.

Just to let you know that I wasn't very clear in my meaning when I said speeding up the modem.

I did mean it just sped up the time taken to dial my ISP.

Sorry for any confusion.

Have you planned how to spend the extra half second saved by faster tone dialling ?

You'll find the basic Haynes AT Commands here:

Hi Yokel,

I note your point: but i'm not doing it for the extra half second - it's more of a something-to-do thing.

I guess I like tweaking stuff :-).
