Dial up query

I am on a dial-up connection with, heaven help me, BT Openworld. For the last week or so the speed has been shown as 33.6 kbps. Prior to this it was always around 44 kbps. Would this 'blip' of 11 kbps be the reason for my slow internet surfing and has anyone else noticed this?

Ask BT if they have inflicted a DACS on your line.

Thanks for the prompt response. Can you advise what a DACS is?

Just seen the update. If you follow the link to broadband, it will tell you if you have a line sharing system.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the link from the site to the 'checker' section is u.s. at present. Will keep giving it a go though.

Thanks again. Unfortunately I'm on dial-up though. Will have a go at contacting BT direct and keep trying the link you gave earlier.

Many thanks for your help.
