Hi all,

Using XP Home, how do I get into diagnostic startup? I've looked in the help files which mention it via the General Tab (where's that?)

Its in an attempt to get rid of a message thats appearing at boot up on a neighbours friends PC.

go to see whats been attempted so far (all via phone which makes it difficult.

In the sites search option I came across a post by VOG which uses 'Diagnostic Start' to solve this problem but I dont know how to run a diagnostic stsrt. But with your help hopefully I will soon,

many thanks,

Mike

cheers Dan the Confused, Ill give this a try according to VOG's posting, you have an option to not view any messages that appear at startup (or that how I assume it works).

many thanks for your help,

Mike

I think you just need to click on the Startup tab in msconfig and uncheck the file(s) there to stop them loading at startup (and not being found). Then follow VoG™'s advice if it starts in Diagnostic Mode.
