Devolo home plugs

In a bid to increase the wifi coverage in my house I have installed some Devolo homeplugs. I can now get wifi where I want it but have to switch networks when I move around the different parts of the house ie I thought the original signal would just be boosted / carried to other parts of the house but I now have the original Virgin media network and a Devolo net work. Can I rename some how so there is only one network without the need to switch when I move from one room to another?

Use the homeplugs with ethernet cables instead of wifi, one homeplug for each location - problem solved, provided all mains sockets are on one circuit.

Thanks for the response but neither my lap top or ipad have an Ethernet port and I really want the freedom of wifi. I have since spoken to a colleague who informs me he installed home plugs and his wifi coverage is seamless but he does not know how he achieved this which is even more frustrating!
