desktop/network computer settings

When running w98se I could set my computer to act as a network computer against a normal desktop, and thus improve performance. I cannot remember where i could make the changes, I think it was in System settings in the control panel. can i still do the same thing in XP home. Hope this is enough info and someone knows what i am trying to get at. Come in Vog, help me.

used to use that myself in 98SE I think it used to give you a larger File Cache, I dont think XP Home gives you this option (found in power settings)it only lists (Home Office/Desktop)not the Network setting.

It was a speed tweak for Win98 but I don't think that it is relevant for Win2k /XP.
