Have a lap top running XP. (It's a friends) Have been getting it up straight with Windows Updates.
After running about 35 updates, successfully, restarted the XP and the Desktop is now too big.
I mean that I have to scroll up and down and left to right to see everything.
Any ideas? I don't fancy restoring back to pre updates if this can be avoided.

You've obviously altered the resolution setting - right click on the Desktop, Properties and then the Settings tab.

Alter the slider to your correct screen resolution and check via the Advanced tab and then Monitor (it may be under Adapter depending on your graphics card) and check that the Screen Refresh Rate is set to 85MHz.

Click OK as necessary to exit. You might have to reboot afterwards for the changes to take effect and also realign your desktop icons.

I don't know how I screwed it but you fixed it.
Thanks again.
