Desktop search

What do people suggest as the best desktop search tool - preferably free, but I'll pay if there is a good enough reason.

I'm tired of the WinXP search tool and the time it takes. I don't use Outlook for mail so no need for it to be able to search those archives.

Thanks, Dio

I use the Microsoft one - it seems the best on my machine.

Be aware that a friend's PC slowed to a crawl due the kids installing a Desktop Search tool. It was constantly searching!

Took me a while to suss it, but once removed the problem was solved.

I've used Copernic for a while now and I have to say I quite like it.

Probably I'll go for the MS one unless anyone has anything more to say.

Thanks for the replies.

Try GOOGLE. Free and easy. Needs XP I believe.
