desktop icon

hello.recently i have noticed icons appearing within my various folders.the icon is named desktop configuration settings.when viewed/opened desktop notepad opens (please see below)or a warning that removing will cause issues for other programs.why has this icon suddenly started to appear?.can anyone please explain.many thanks iqs

Open Explorer and click on Tools>Folder Options>View then scroll down to and tick the "Hide protected operating system files..Recommended" box.

That will remove those icons for you.....I would also make sure that "Do not show hidden Files and Folders" is also checked.
