This has just happened.
I have a blue pane with "folder tasks, other places, details", on my desktop. I have no idea how it got there. I have GOOGLED 'til I can GOOGLE no more & all I can get is download this bit of software for a REG fix.
Do I need to DL software to fix this or is there a work around?

Can you go to Task manager and see any applications running?

Go to

scroll down to line 15, left column 'Remove common tasks from the desktop'- right click, 'save target as'and save the file where you can find it. Double click on the saved file and your problem should be solved.

Good luck, hope this helps

Or you could try (from click here )

1. Right click on your My Computer Icon on your Desktop

2. Select Properties

3. Go to the Advanced Tab

4. Go to Performance and click on Settings

5. Click on Let Windows Choose what is best for my Computer

6. Click Ok

- IMPORTANT
7. Must restart the computer for changes to correct themselves

8. After the restart the bar on the left side should be gone

I tried your suggestion first. It did not work. I will now try Kellyscorner. Will let you know how it turns out.

Thanks

Hi, that download worked well. I still for the life of me don't know what I did to make it appear!

Again thanks.
