Hi all

My motherboards died (or so I'm assured)

I have a 'replacement' pc

The 'dead' pc specs (from its label)...

processor - CELERON 1.8
m/board - JWAY 400
s/card - AC 97 O/B
G/card - GF4 MX 420
Modem - 56k V 90

I also know there's 768 Megabytes of Installed Memory in 3 slots of 256 pc2100 ddr

The 'replacement' pc specs (from belarc)...

Main Circuit Board
Bus Clock: 66 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 062710 07/15/97

Processor
1.53 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Memory Modules
240 Megabytes Installed Memory
Slot '0' has 256 MB
Slot '1' is Empty

Display
S3 ViRGE DX/GX [Display adapter]
SiS 300/305/630/540/730 [Display adapter]

Multimedia
MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device
SiS 7018 Audio Driver
Standard Game Port

Communications
Accton EN1208 PCI Ethernet Adapter
SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter

The two boards memory's aren't compatible. (replacement pc's slots have a different profile)

Oh, and 'dead' pc has a 300watt power unit and 'replacement' has a 400watt

What should I put together from the two to get the best combo or should I flog the 'replacement' pc for a few quid and put the money towards buying a new motherboard/processor/chip kit and install it to the old 'dead' pc and if so are the 'dead' pc memory sticks worth anything at all (perhaps on an auction site)?

If it is possible to do something worthwhile I know I'll definitely need either more anbd/or to upgrade the 'replacements' memory quantity. How big/fast can the board take and would it be cheaper to refurbish the dead one as I suggested?

I guess I've made a fairly simple problem very complicated? I hope its not too confusing.

Anyone got any clues for me at all?

I hope I've put all the necessary relevant details here. If not let me know

Much appreciation, respect and many thanks in advance.

Cheers

Skulk
