Desktop Cleanup Feature Error

  Tj_El 00:01 06 May 06

Hi folks,

Decided today to pay attention to the Desktop Cleanup Feature pop-up ballon and run it. After clicking on "Finish", XP threw up another pop-up box with the message:

Cannot move file: The file name you specified in not valid or too long. Specify a different file name.

My problem with this message is that the wizard at no point asked me for a file name!!

Having used this feature before, I know it places a floder called "Unused Desktop Shortcuts" or "Unused Icons" on the desktop and this is what I was expecting to happen.

Any ideas anyone?

An icon or file on the desktop has an unusual character in its name, clear out anything you don't need manually and look for odd names, especially where names include boxes in place of text or odd characters.

As it's a windows error try system restore. Don't use Desktop cleaner again. Simply create a folder and name it what you will and put you mostly unused icons in it.
