Desktop background problem

  Pamplemousse 12:16 28 Jan 06

The background on my desktop has changed to white - for no apparent reason.

I have gone into the "display" area and "desktop" tab. The main pane on that page, under "background" is deactivated. Nothing can be clicked on.

Any thoughts on how I can rectify this?

If you're using XP try a System Restore to a time when it was okay.

I have tried system restore. It didn't work. I should add that this problem is only on my Windows account. If I go in to my wife's or duaghter's accounts, there are no problems with this.

Have you any background pics in Windows\web\wallpapers.

Could try sfc /scannow in case you have a missing or damaged file.

Or click the themes tab and see if you have a saved theme that can be reinstated.

Still no joy

Have you tried banging F8 at boot up and selecting "last known good configuration"
or having a look at the display settings in safe mode, could try a system restore from safe mode.

Clutching at straws here:

Try removing and re-installing/updating the driver for your graphics card.

Get this (direct download link - Doug Knox XP Security Console click here) - look under Display options and enable all.

Thanks for all these suggestions peeps. Problem still hasn't been resolved I'm afraid.
