My current Pc is now years old and so I dont realy have a clue about the spec needed for general surfing and also online gaming esp` first person shooter games.
I would like something that would not be obsolete very soon. I have a butget of around £1k, is the spec on the Mesh below look good enough?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Mesh Matrix M3500
AMD athlon 64 3500 (939pin) processor.
200gb serial ATA T150 mb/s) ultra fast hard drive.
Upgrading to 1024 memory.
From a 128 nvidia ge force 6600 tv out+dvi pci express I`m going to
upgrade to 256mb ATI Radeon x800XL tv out - dvi pci express video card.
SONY 16x Dual Layer DVD-RW
17" tft flat panel LCD analogue monitor.

That spec.PC as upgraded will be just fine for online gaming.

processor more than enough to run the online games, as is the RAM and the graphics card (the only one more powerful than the one you are getting is the x850). what you must remember is the internet connection you get will be the biggest bottleneck. for serious online gaming i wouldnt get a connection slower than 2mb.

Thanks for the advice guys, now feel more confident in buying a new pc, now I`m wondering if I can get better spec for around the same price on a quality make, starting to feel like a dog chasing it`s own tale! lol

cheers again.
