Just to let you know that I recently added a Dell Dimension PC to my local home network and was able to order it with XP-Pro ready installed. We run a small business doing DTP and already have two other PCs with Pagemaker and Indesign installed.

The Dell arrived within 4 days, worked straight out of the box and zero compatibility problems so far with any of our existing kit or software.

The man on the phone at Dell said they will install XP-Pro on any of their kit but you usually have to phone to ask them now that they are officially shipping Vista on most of it.

Good to know. XP's stable, Vista is not (not just my opinion), so why let yourself be a guinea pig. It can be fun and an education testing out, say, a new or different browser, but an OS (especially for business use)! No way!!

Thanks for that info honeyrose, it's just solved a dilemma I had for a request for Christmas :)
Hope it's the same choice for home users
