I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 about 18 months old.
I have a system restore disk which I made when I got the laptop.
It recently has had a couple of blue screen shutdowns.
It fell over this morning and looks like the hard drive has died.
I have plenty of experience with desktop PC but not lappy. Can I fit any make of laptop HD ?
The one in at the mo is 60G 5400. Would be nice to fit 120 & 7200. Any advice appreciated.
Regards

I've replaced a few of these drives in that machine and it is a doddle. You can use any drive and I usually use this 120Gb one at around £60(WD) click here I have not seen any 7200 drives though but you really would not notice the difference.

Yes doddle. Two screws & the hard drive is out.
I have been looking since my post & can get new 120G 5400 for about £60. Luckily my friend has one of these laptops so I can put his hard drive into my laptop to confirm all is ok.
thanks
