Hi all. I've got a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop with 1GB DDR2 memory and was running Windows XP. It crashed with "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer", etc. etc. The tech info is:-

STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005,0XF75DD0BF,0xF7A29208,0xF7A28F08)

pci.sys - Address F75DD0BF base at F75D6000, DateStamp 3b7d855c

Tried HDD and memory. Tried to reinstall Windows. It copies the files and then says "Starting Windows" at which point it crashes. Is it beyond hope?

Thanks

possibly a driver problem

basicly u have a damaged and essential system file.
you need to make a BOOTABLE windows cd that has been updated with xp sp2 (service pack 2) or sp3 files to bring it up to date or else install will revert back to the damaged system file and not use the file on your windows cd.
its a hassle but its fixable
