dell inspiron 530

hi all.
i have a dell inspiron 530 desktop,have recieved a critical update to the bios from dell service says it will stop the fan from constantly running at high speed,reducing the risk of lock ups,crashes and errors in windows.always a bit wary messing with bios,would this be okay to do,your advice as always would be appreciated.many thanks.

The BIOS update will make your system more stable reducing the risk of lock-ups etc.
Reducing fan speeds is no doubt achieved by better monitoring the CPU temperature. That will reduce noise and save a minimal amount of energy.

You do have to take serious note of the warnings and make sure that the update is NOT interuppted else your motherboard may become unuseable.
