Dell Inspiron 1200 ram upgrade

  tickhiller 08:44 13 Oct 06

I have a Dell Inspiron 1200 laptop with 256MB RAM installed. It needs more RAM. I checked how much it will run and bought a pair of 512MB SODIMMs. I have taken off the cover under the base and there is just one empty slot. I cant see the slot which has the 256MB. Any suggestions where to look. I dont want to dismantle more than I have to.

Could be that the 256mb is fixed; that was the case with a number of laptops in the past.

According to Crucial, the best you can do is add a 1gb module.

Thanks, I missed the 'none removeable' aspect of the information.
