I have a Dell Latitude D800 laptop. When i turn in on i get the message:
"The AC Power Adapter type cannot be detected. This will pevent optimal system performance"

The battery continuously stays at 0% in the bios. The laptop will stay on with the power plugged in but instantly turns off when removed. Is this battery problem?

TRy removing the battery and just power off the mains .

Does it still boot up?

I have done that. The laptop boots ok but i have to press F1 to get past the error message

Certainly sounds like Battery charge problems.

I wonder what difference it makes if you rest the BIOS to Default settings.
I'm thinking a power setting problem in BIOS maybe?
