Deleting 'read only' pictures

I have recently placed new digital photos onto a CD-RW.When i tried deleting some of these i am getting the message 'access denied these are read only files'. Are there any settings i can change that will allow me to delete these. I thought the whole point of using CD-RW was that you could do exactly this?

You can't delete files burnt normally in the way you want, even from a CD-RW disk.

You can only delete files from a CD-RW, if you have burnt the file originally using packet writing software such as Roxio's DirectCD or Nero's InCD. To do that, you need to format the CD-RW for packet writing first.

You should be able to remove the read only attribute on these photo's.

In explorer select all files, right mouse click one of them and select properties, untick read only, tick archive, click apply and then ok, they should now be deletable.

that is correct the cd-rw is like a big floppy, but with XP's drag and drop you have to format the whole disc to delete a file

the format process takes about 60 seconds
