deleting named print_areas in excel 2003 SP2

I have selected an area of a worksheet, set it as a print area and in the box where it says "print_area" I have changed the name to "whatever".
I then realised I had missed out a column. So I select the new area I want, set it as print area but I can neither reuse the same name nor delete it in order to write it again.
Is there anyone out there who knows the answer.
Suggestions I have found on the net (such as select and delete) do not work.

I use Excel 2000 and I have: Set Print Area and Clear Print Area.

If you have the same I would suggest you clear the print area first and then make a new print area.

Provided that you don't have any other named ranges that you want to keep:

ALT + F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor, Insert > Module. Copy and paste in

Sub Delete_Names()
On Error Resume Next
For Each Name In Application.Names
Name.Delete
Next Name
End Sub

Close the VBE, select your sheet, Tools > Macro > Macros, highlight Delete_Names and click the Run button.

pj123: thanks but that has never worked for me - it deselects the print area but not the actual name designated.

VoG - EXCELLENT. Many thanks - that did the trick very nicely.
