Deleting .dat file that gets ran at boot

  grandmasterflash 00:02 16 Jan 08

Ive identified a malware file that is regenerating all of its other files on my system and hijacking the browser, it is pbrhdtik.dat in c:\windows\system32\drivers . However, i cannot delete this as the access is denied, but as this gets booted with all the other drivers at startup, even on safe mode, it is always running and i cant delete it. How can i delete this other than plugging HD into different machine and deleting?

Might work...

1. Create a new account at Control Panel->User Accounts->Create a new account remember to give it administrator rights and preferable a password.
2. Log out with your current user (the one with the index.dat file you want to remove).
3. Log in with the newly created user and locate and delete the index.dat files with Explorer

You need to use HijackThis (insert disclaimer about non-expert use) here
