delete unknown file?

  rithym 11:09 05 Sep 05

Hello folks
Hoping someone can help me delete a file that has suddenly appeared on my drive. When i run XP pro as normal and click on the file in explorer i get message access denied. I have tried booting from XP pro disc and running recovery console, navigating in DOS to the file but again when i try to open or delete i get access denied.
Anyone know how i can remove/ delete this file please?

TIA Richard

In 'Properties' you might find that the 'Read Only' box has been ticked. Untick it, tick'Archive' and click 'Apply'. The file should then be deletable.

Have you checked the permissions for the file/folder?

Maybe you should be tryign to delete it - see click here for another example.
