Delays in printing

My desktop running WinMe and my HP laserjet 1200 work well together. However, sometimes, perhaps increasingly frequent, when jobs are sent to print, they queque until the programme is quit and then they print. The "start printing after the first page is spooled" box is ticked in the printer properties. Occurs most often in IE6 but in other programs as well?

Any ideas?

Could be a memory problem. Windows does tend to hang on to it. If you are likely to do some printing it sometimes helps if you shut down and reboot before running the application. You might have some luck with a ram reclaimation prog but don't use it whilst playing games as I found it tends to crash them.

Got 384MB memory and the problem doesn't appear to be dependent of usage, but I'll look out for that. Thanks Sil_ver

Should have said resources rather than memory.
