Delayed write error Win XP and USB 2.0

I've been suffering a recurring error on my newly built computer when attempting to use either an external USB 2.0 hard drive or the internal USB 2.0 flash memory reader. All USB ports are 2.0 variety with latest drivers.

Quick spec:
Win XP pro
AMD XP2500+ Barton
1 gig DDR 400 memory running at 333
2 x Maxtor 80 gig SATA drives RAID 0
Ge Force 4 Ti 4200
Audigy Platinum
LG multi format DVD drive
DVD/CDRW combo drive

Everything else works fine (after sorting out continual drive corruption probs on SATA drives.

Both pieces of equipment work fine on USB 1.1. At present, I have modified a cheap USB 1.1 4 port hub providing a direct connection to card reader (No USB plug), which is in turn connected to a USB 2.0 header on the motherboard.

Searched Microsoft knowledge base but no reference to this specific USB 2.0 problem.

Regards
Simon
