Windows 98:
Defragment keeps failing because it finds errors on the disk, which it says must first be corrected. However, when running Scandisk, no errors are found. Any ideas?

Two thoughts, Gothdj.

First ensure you're doing the most complete scandisk ie thorough test not standard, perform write-testing, check both system and data areas.

If this still shows nothing, go to the disk manufacturer's website where you will probably find downloadable software that will do an even better check.
