The system rejects attempts to defrag my hard drive & I get the message "please run Chkdsk/f."
Ihave never experienced this before. How do I correct this problem?

What size hard drive and how much free space?

Go to start menu/run, type

chkdsk /f

hit return.

note the space between chkdsk and /f

Normaly when you switch your computer of,then back on again it should start itself,Takes about an hour,There have been 3or4 folk on here in the last week with the same problem, Unfortuately I never found out the cause, But I am sure if you leave this open for a while, Someone will be able to help you,Tried searching for the other threads, but could not find them,Dont know if you can also put this thread into the helproom.Might get a Quicker response,

Before you run chkdsk make sure you have no programmes runing in background,ie,anti-virus,screensavers,etc.these can cause errors in defrag and chkdsk. After reboot anti-virus will be back up and running so dont worry
