Please can someone recommend a free, vista compatible defragmenter. The built-in one in vista just stops as I think its because i only have 9% free space on my C drive.

jk defrag tried several free ones this is the better i think.

I would think that any other defrag will have problems with only 9%

You need an absolute minimum of 15% free space in order for defrag to work.

You will need to get rid of something to free-up some space.

As said, remove some of the clutter from Control panel/Programs/Uninstall a Program.

Also running ccleaner will certainly help click here

Running with only 9% free space on your drive is going to cause you bigger problems that just with defrag, in the near future.

I strongly recommend you sort that out in the very near future.

I've been using Austlogics Disk Defrag for some time (it is Vista compatible), which is fast and effective:

but the advice above is very sound...:-)

Thanks for the quick responses. I do run the Mantain Computer in McAfee. I will uninstall programs and move some stuff the my second partition of my drive.

Thanks

What about compressing the drive, this seems to help in XP, don't know about Vista...
