defrag - odd activity

  palinka 19:52 12 Feb 07

Win ME. Running a defrag I seem to be in a loop - get "Reading Drive information", then the blue line goes across part way but when it reaches "10%" it then says "drive's contents changes - restarting". This pattern f activity is endlessly repeated.
I seldom defrag but I can't remember this happening before. Any advice, please?

Hi, that often happens, not a bit unusual. It is because something is still running in the background and interrupting the defrag.

You can overcome this byt using Smart Defrag from click here

I use this all the time, as do many other PCA members.

If that only supports XP/2000 (and I believe it does) try Diskeeper lite click here

Hmmm, yes brundle is right - I did not notice your ME, I must read slower and type faster :-))

I am on win 98se; this sometimes happens to me too; one way i deal with it is to close as many programs as necessary via my ctrl/alt/ del ; you will have to reboot after this as many needed running prgrams will be stopped by this;try it and see if it works for you; especially if you have not defragged for a long time it may take while to process

OR; boot into safe mode and try defrag;
