People : i have just defraged my system and have noticed that all over the disc are lots of small blocks of (as the legend says) Data that will not move. Is there a way to move all these blocks to the end?? many years ago in win 95 or 98 you could move these blocks. I cannot remember how. I wonder if the is a way nowadays a way to do this. I am running win ME. thanks Bill

The display that you get when defrag is running is only a diagrammatic toy to keep us mortals happy.

It makes no reference to the sectors into which a disk is divided and also, your HDD may contain more than one disk and no reference is made to that possibility either.

I am sure that what you ask is feasible, but I am not sure that you would achieve anything other than a tidy diagram.
