How do I start a defrag - I need to do one and I've forgotten where to start.

Restart in safe mode (f8 at startup)

open my computer and right click on the hdd

choose the defrag tool under one of the tabs.

1. Double click on "My Computer"
2. Right click once on the drive you want to defragment
3. Left click once on "Properties"
4. Click once on the "tools" tab at the top
5. Click once on the "Deframent" button toward the bottom
6. Click "Defragment now"
7. When it is finished it will tell you it is done and ask if you want to quit Disk Defragmenter. Click on "yes"
8. Repeat steps 2-6 for any additional drives you wish to defragment

Note: You cannot defragment Network drives, Floppy Disks, or CD-ROM drives. Only local Hard Disks can be defragmented

click Disk Defragmenter

Click Disk Defragment on left.

Click Analyse or Defragment. Take ya pick...
