What is the best way to run Defrag? I read somewhere that the best way is to go into Safe Mode and run it from there but when I try Safe Mode on my PC using Windows ME is seems to be locked, I can?t select any of the options even Normal, I have to reset the computer. Any thoughts please?

Providing you do not have any programmes running in the background, you should be able to run defrag from your system tools.

Also ensure your toolbar is closed.

After running defrag remember to open toolbar again

The best way is in safe mode. Whilst your machine is booting continuously hit F5 not F8.

Everytime I've tried this on a Windows XP machine (fresh install of XP after fressh install of XP after.....) it stops at 12% (with screensaver not active AND the same in safe mode. It's even done the same thing on my last PC and the PC before it. Any ideas?
