Hi all

I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop (XP SP3)

The battery is dead and has been for a while, so the wife uses it running off the mains with the power lead.

Tonight, the laptop died, the light is still on the power lead to show that its working, but the laptop won't turn on at all. I have even removed the dead battery to see if that made any difference but it hasn't?

Has any one any idea's what I can do ?

Thanks

1. Turn off the computer,
2. Take the battery out
3. Take out the power supply
4. Push the power button down for 30 seconds.
5. Reconnect power supply
6. See if it will boot.

Also check there is voltage at the DC jack plug wire between adaptor and plug could be broken.

Is the power socket loose in the back of the laptop?

No I am afraid that did not work. The power lead and the connection in the laptop seem ok? But still dead laptop?
