Dead keys on Toshiba lap top

The following keys have stoped working on my A100-027 laptop running Vista

2,a, caps lock, shift (left hand only), z , Ctrl (left hand only), Fn ,

Its a computer I take on site with me as its got lots of PDF files of boiler manuals on it.

My question is, is this just a keyboard fault that I could solve by using a cheap USB keyboard or would there be more to it?.

Thanks for your help

As you use the laptop for work maybe some dirt has got wedged down between the keys? I would try gently turning the machine upside down and giving it a very gentle tap to see if anything dislodges. You could also try one of these PC keyboard vacuums {usually battery operated) in between the keys to see if that solves the problem. They are quite cheap.
