DDR3 / DDR Compatability Query

I have a Medion Pc P4 266GHz running XP Home work pack 2, the mother board is a Micro-Star Model MS6701.I have to change the original graphics card, which was an NVIDIA GeForce 4 8X AGP TI4200 (broken)it was the original one which came with the pc, and here's my question.

I had decided to replace this card with a GE Force 6800LE but have since discovered that two types are available. One is running 128MB DDR and the other is runing 256 DDR3. I am reasonably sure that the DDR will run okay but can somebody please tell me if the DDR3 will still work on this machine.

Thanks Law.

The type of ram on a video card makes no diff to the rest of the pc, unlike system ie ddr, ddr2.

So long as the card is for the agp slot, and not pci-e, then it should work on you system (if it dosn't, it has nothing to do with the type of gpu ram).

Hope this helps.

Just looked at your link, it says it is agp so it should be fine in your pc, but it states the memory is 128mb.

If you can afford it, look for the 256mb card and get that, SO long as it's for the AGP interface, as this will be better for games.

I've seen a few reviews for the 6800le (though, not this exact model) which were all favourable.

Hope this helps.
