DDR RAM CAS Latency problem?

  Dr.Sam 14:28 28 Mar 05

Plan to install 2x512Mb of DDR 3200 Ram with cas latency of 3(ok, it's cheap), motherboard good up to 3200 but it only has CAS Latency settings of 2 and 2.5, will this create a problem?

Try the ram in your motherboard with the CAS latency set at 2.5 and see what happens. If it works then you should be fine. If it does not you need either to buy a new motherboard which can be set to 3 with ddr400 ram or, buy something like Crucial Ballistix ram which will run with the CAS latency set at 2. Crucial ballistix and similar ram is expensive though, a new motherboard would be cheaper.
