DDR & DDR2 Motherboard

My MSI motherboard supports both DDR & DDR2 memory and has four slots (two DDR & two DDR2).

The pc was supplied with two 512mb DDR sticks and my machine is mainly used for photo and video editing.

Would I notice a fast difference in adding two 512mb ddr2 sticks - and is it true that both ddr & ddr2 memory can't be used at the same time?

Thanks
Would I notice a fast difference in adding two 512mb ddr2 sticks
- not in any real world sense.
is it true that both ddr & ddr2 memory can't be used at the same time?
not sure of that.
