DD Writer Replacement

My old CDRW has gone to silicone heaven, and I am looking for a new DVD R/W.

The slot on my case is for a standard slot (Approx size 15cm x 4cm).

Will a SATA DVD R/W first in this or is the hole too big.

can you recommend a SATA Drive?

I bought the very latest LG GH22NP20 DVD rewriter about three months ago (IDE version in my case) and it's so far proved first class (there's an equivalent Samsung model as the two firms are partners).

Prices range from around £16 from Scan and Dabs, although I bought mine locally for £21 as I needed it quickly after my then Sony's DVD burner packed up.

There's also a Lightscribe version.

If you go for the LightScribe version - be aware that they do not get on well with Nvidia, unless they have overcome the problem recently.

I doubt if using a SATA rather than a PATA optical rewriter will make any difference time wise.
