Data transfer: Windows 98 - XP via dongle

I want to move data from an old machine to an XP machine via a USB portable data storage. Are there any dongles which are compatible with these towo systems?

Most USB flash drives can be used on W98 if you can find the drivers. The safest bet is to make sure they exist either on CD with the key or on the manufacturers website before parting with the readies as finding appropriate drivers for the unbranded generic keys can be extremely difficult. XP isn't fussy.

The last few USB dongles I purchased came with a Win 98 driver cd, so look out for this when buying one.
