Original I thought my hdd cant be dead as it was working fine the previous day. I shutdown the pc as normal and went to bed. Woke up next morning, turned pc on only to find the pc has not booted up because the hdd is not detected.

I did not update anything or change any settings the previous day it was working. The 2nd sata drive is detected fine.

I can hear the drive power up and spin etc but theres no unusual sounds coming from it.

I have tried swapping cables/sata ports around with ones that I know work and tried the hdd in another pc but no luck.

I also tried using seatools but that failed as it couldnt detect the drive

If you have two drives the same ... one method is to swap the electronics from a good drive to the old drive to recover your data.
